Cruisin’ Season

May 10, 2019 | Uncategorized

Are you planning for your next dream river cruise vacation? When it comes to deciding on when you’re leaving for your next getaway, timing is key. The last thing you want is for your waterway of choice to be frozen solid or bubbling like a hot tub.

Use Kosher River Cruises as your seasonal travel guide to help you make the right decisions:

Vietnam and Cambodia Mekong River

In the broadest sense, the best time to visit Vietnam and Cambodia is from November to April. This is because temperatures and humidity fall across central and northern Vietnam, and rainfall becomes less frequent in both Vietnam and Cambodia.

The best time to visit Vietnam/Cambodia during is the springtime, which is from February to April, and during autumn, which is from August to October. The moderate to cool temperatures and light rainfall make it ideal for traveling.

Amazon River

As suggested by its name, the Amazon Rainforest heeds rain all year round. However, it does have microclimates that travelers can catch.

May through June is an ideal time to visit the Amazonas, being midway between the rainiest months which are February to April and the hottest and driest ones which are September through November. During these months the water level at the Amazon is at its highest making it perfect for river rafting and other extreme water sports.

Danube River

The Danube River can get pretty cold – 5 degrees celsius maximum. The best time to go would be from May to September. The nights are shorter, the days are longer, and the temperature is just right for exploring big cities and hidden gems.

Mississippi River

It’s a waste of time to cruise through the Mississippi River if you’re going to miss out on Mardi Gras. The spring to summer transition from March to April is loaded with parties, festivity, and a lot of color. It’s the perfect season for young travelers.

Portugal and Spain Douro River

If you’re interested in walking or cycling through the Douro region, Spring, which is April through June, or autumn, which is September to November, are the best times to visit. Both in terms of colorful scenery and pleasant temperature. However, there’s the risk of rainy days but not enough to make you stay in.

Rhone and Provence River

The ideal times to visit Aix-en-Provence are from March through May and also September through November. The climate is as moderate as the crowds that visit. During the summer you will see an influx of Parisians and a hoard of international travelers flocking away from the cold winter of the south of France.

Another successful experience

Our experience was unique in that we were able to tour a lot of territory and a variety of places with minimal inconvenience. The fact that our boat was always with us and there were no long bus rides or waits made this mode of travel extremely enjoyable.
