Antarctic Expedition

December 28, 2026 – January 7, 2027
Kosher River Cruises KRC Expeditions raises the bar once again as we continue to push the boundaries on our signature all-kosher, all-inclusive, luxury destinations. For December 2026, we introduce the world’s first, once-in-a-lifetime, all-kosher Antarctic Expedition – for just 100 guests!

The Journey: Even today, after many decades of exploration, Antarctica remains a world apart, a majestic last frontier surpassing even the most jaded of travelers’ expectations. Join us aboard the MS Island Sky and follow in the footsteps of researchers, pioneers, adventurers and discoverers on this all-kosher expedition cruise to the seventh continent.

It is hard to put into words the sheer grandeur of an Antarctic landscape. This most southern of continents, this desert of ice is so unique and uncommon to man’s experience that even the most dramatic of photographs pale into insignificance when one is confronted by the sheer magnitude, beauty and wonder of an Antarctic landscape. Enormous icebergs rise from the sea, hillsides are covered with thousands of penguins, and seals basking on icebergs dot the channels and straits through which we will sail. The sights, sounds and emotions will stay with you forever.

For most travelers, the Antarctic experience is a once in a lifetime visit, and so it is important that the trip should be as rewarding as possible. The 100-passenger MS Island Sky with KRC Expeditions is the perfect vessel, both in terms of the educational experience on board and the number and quality of opportunities ashore. Antarctica is to be experienced and not only to merely be seen, and we believe the best way to do this is on board a small ship. Our in-depth itinerary allows for eleven days of exploration on the Peninsula and has been timed for late summer, when whale sightings are at their peak, the penguin chicks begin to fledge and brave their first swim, and the snow algae is in bloom. In between our landings and while at sea, you can pass the time on deck looking for wildlife, attend the series of lectures by members of the expedition team or simply relax on board while enjoying the facilities.

This exceptional adventure is capped by our culinary team, led by Master Kosher Chef Malcolm Green, who will create throughout your voyage our signature, sumptuous kosher buffets which our guests have enjoyed for over 25 years of cruising with us. You will enjoy the unique family atmosphere that KRC Expeditions creates on each of our voyages, exploring and traveling together as a community on our all-kosher Expedition Ship!

MS Island Sky – Small Ship Cruising at its Best:  Antarctica is to be experienced, not just to be seen, and we believe the only way to do this is on board a small ship so as to maximize the time spent ashore. Enjoying the wonders of this icy paradise in the company of a small and enthusiastic party is the perfect way to benefit from a visit to this extraordinary place. Travelling with you on board will be polar expedition experts and naturalists with many years of experience in Antarctica; they will add immeasurably to your experience. While there are ships in Antarctica carrying higher numbers of passengers beyond the 100 guests on board the MS Island Sky, due to the restrictions placed on vessels, limiting the number of passengers allowed to land at any one time, the larger vessels can offer only very restricted landings. The MS Island Sky, however, can follow the strict Antarctic rules and yet have all guests ashore at the same time.

Itinerary

* Pre-Tour Buenos Aires – 1 night or 4 nights (with Shabbat) program. Information coming soon

Day 1 (Mo) Embark Ushuaia:

Upon arrival, airport meet and greet then transfer to our ship as we set sail to the Great White Continent.

Days 2 (Tu) & 3 (We) At Sea Drake Passage:
Start your voyage with two leisurely days on board. Attend some lectures, look for wildlife or simply relax as we make our way across the Drake Passage towards Antarctica. Named after the 16th century English seaman Sir Francis Drake, the Drake Passage separates the southernmost tip of South America from Antarctica. This is a particularly good area to spot many species of seabirds, including the black-browed albatross, the cape petrel and the Antarctic prion. We will also be on the lookout for whales.
Days 4 (Th) to 8 (Mo) Antarctic Exploration:
We have five days of exploration around the Peninsula, which will include many of the best places for viewing the vast biodiversity of Antarctic species and iconic, icy environments from glaciers to enormous tabular icebergs. We cruise between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, sailing along ice-filled fjords among spectacular icebergs, njoying the company of seabirds, penguins, seals, and whales. Each day, we disembark by Zodiac boat to explore the landscape together with expert polar guides. On board the ship we’ll enjoy spectacular vistas from the glass-enclosed lounge while sharing our daily adventures with fellow guests. No two journeys are ever the same, as flexibility is the key to success in Antarctica. The Expedition Team sets the voyage route in order to take advantage of the ever-changing opportunities provided by nature, crafting a unique and extraordinary experience each time. While the exact itinerary varies with each expedition, you can explore several spots that offer the best possible overview of the varied Antarctic en
vironment. Your Antarctic cruise may include visits to sites such as Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel, or many other magnificent places. Your polar adventure is very fluid and active, with several daily landings and cruises in Zodiac boats, lectures and an altogether enjoyable time on board.

*Our magical Antarctic Shabbat together will take place as we are docked within view of magical icebergs and ice shelves teaming with wildlife. They can be viewed up close with incredible detail from your cabin balcony and ship’s observation decks.

Days 9 (Tu) & 10 (We) At Sea Drake Passage
Enjoy a final leisurely two days on board and reminisce with your fellow travelers about all you have seen and experienced during our expedition. Keep your cameras and binoculars close as we spot magnificent sea birds, such as albatrosses and petrels scouring our wake, as well as different species of whales on their way south to Antarctica.

    • Coverage must have a minimum of $250,000 Emergency Medical Evacuation and Medical Repatriation
    • We recommend insuring your deposit at the time of registration as it is nonrefundable. You can add additional coverage closer to your cruise departure once you determine your final cruise costs (for those without pre-existing conditions).
    • For USA guests, we recommend Trip Mate Travel Insurance Company (Generali Insurance Company). A direct link for quotes and booking is available on our website.

If you need assistance with getting a quote or purchasing insurance, please contact us at 310-237-0122.

Air Booking & Pre or Post Night Program:

      Gentle Walkers

Guests with limited mobility are not recommended to book this tour due to its adventurous nature. Shore excursions will require movement over ice fields of uneven ground, with transfers made via Zodiacs to and from our vessel.

      BEYOND our expectations

We could not believe what we were served. Chef Malcom is a GENIUS!!! Please tell the directors that we do not have words to express how pleased we were. I suppose that we will be recommending you to every friend we know.

      Another successful experience

Our experience was unique in that we were able to tour a lot of territory and a variety of places with minimal inconvenience. The fact that our boat was always with us and there were no long bus rides or waits made this mode of travel extremely enjoyable.
