Another recipe from our recent great cruise on the Mekong. The next cruise on this beautiful river will be in 2027. Full booking details will be made available shortly. As we were fully booked 6 months before our latest cruise, make sure to book early for 2027.

Lok Lak  (Cambodian Beef Stew)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb Stewing Beef
  • 8 oz Beef Stock
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp kosher Chinese rice white
  • 3 tbsp dark soy
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil

Method:

  • Combine the beef with the sugar, the pepper, the garlic powder, soy sauce, salt and corn starch
  • Leave the marinading beef in the fridge for 1 hour.
  • Place in an ovenproof pot, add the rice wine and the stock and bring to the boil, making sure the beef is covered.
  • Then cover the pot and place in a pre-heated oven at 370 degrees fo 2 ½ – 3 hours
  • Serve on creamed potatoes.
